So I did something a little drastic the other day. I decided that the 1.7 mile run I have been doing, with two of my housemates of an evening, was an amazing achievement and that I was ready to take on 10K. So taking this new found motivation, I decided to put it somewhere useful in the form of signing up for the Nike Women’s 10K London Race in Victoria Park on the 21st June 2015. I also made my housemate sign up too!
After letting this sink in for a day or two I realised that:
I have only ever run 2 miles at the most
I never stick to any fitness plan I set myself (hello chocolate biscuits!)
Its the week after the St Albans Half Marathon (my placement job – going to be a stressful day!)
Its exam period now and I have to train for this right?!
But after careful consideration; I decided that I had made the right decision, because what is better motivation to train and get fit that raising money for something you care about? I’m raising money for the RSPCA, I’ve always been a huge animal lover, who has watched way too many cute videos on youtube, countless programmes on animal cruelty, and signed so many online petitions that I have lost count. So now is the time to do something other than sit in front of a screen.
So here I am five runs down in my training, now at 2.7 miles, a team of four of us running (Girls Gone Running), £70 raised already, and a healthy-ish eating plan in the works. Along with one more assignment, two exams, two jobs, job applications, a job interview, Trident Media, and an operation soon.
