UH student Lucy Loomes represents country

Herts’ very own Lucy Loomes showed what she is capable of in Azzurri last week against Italy’s Under 19’s football team.

Lucy moved from Suffolk to London two years ago to join London Bees in the Women Super League Second division (WSL 2). Last week, she was scouted by the manager of the London Bees to be part of a friendly match against Italy’s very own U19’s.

“Representing your country is always amazing and I was honoured to be part of the squad, let alone play,” she explains with enthusiasm.

On Wednesday the 4th of November the U19’s squad drew 1-1 in their opponent’s home ground which left our girls motivated and ready to give more of themselves in future games.

For Lucy, this game was the catalyst to achieve more caps (field presence in international matches) even though she already has six caps for U19’s and 5 for U17’s under her belt.

Lucy is a first year Sport Studies student at the University of Hertfordshire. The choice of course does not come to any surprise considering Lucy has been kicking balls since the young age of 4.

“Joining the FA centre of excellences from the age of 7 before joining Colchester Academy to finally end up part of the London bees WSL 2 has been an incredible journey and I cannot wait to see where it leads me,” she declares.

Her aspirations are to make England’s seniors and be a full time professional player in the Women Super League’s first division.

The future looks bright for Lucy as she perseveres to reach a high standard with determination and confidence.
