Gogi (meat) Korean Bar and Grill is one of the best Asian restaurants in London to give you that excellent experience of an authentic Korean- style of well-marinated beef, fresh seafood with a blend of Korean elevator music. Gogi is located at Edgware, London. The bar is well-positioned for the benefit of people/ tourist from little Vernice sports centre and garden to have a great time and enjoy their meal in bright lights and minimal décor.
As a new Korean and K-drama fan, the urge to try out their cuisine is inevitable, with Gogi and their extensive menu which allows on the choose to try out different kinds of Korean food. The bar is not that big but has a great and friendly ambience.
The setting is nicely done, is a combination of brick walls and antique woodwork, with exposed stell outlets that make it suitable for a small gathering, first date, birthday celebration and there is small lounge setting outside the bar, with two – four-chair per table for people who do not book a table or waiting for their reserved table.
The setting and atmosphere allow you to experience the cooking\grilling method, where you grill your marinated meat at your own table and enjoy the sizzling BBQ with a blend of oriental cocktails and chilled Korean oriental drinks – Soju, Seol Jeong mae, Mak gal lli which range from 6% – 18% of alcohol and they also have sparkling & champaign, spirit & mix, and wine.
The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering food (that are suitable for vegetarian) ranging from starters, we had the prawn dumplings, frosted seaweed, spicy squid, Korean fried chicken, prawn tempura and spicy pork bao and they were exquisite. On the main menu, we ordered kimchi fried rice, Dolsot BibimBap, hot pot bulgogi and BBQ premium platter.
On the drink menu, we ordered super sky blue from the list of their cocktail drink and is made from the blueberry liqueur, soju, crushed ice and fresh blueberry. We also had Soo JeongGwa which the Korean traditional cinnamon and ginger drink.
Quite a few of the items on the menu were for two to share most especially the barbeque and sounded good- at one point some meat was bought out to be cooked at the table- which looked fun but did mean the whole restaurant then smelt of roast meat!
Service was outstanding and swift, super quick, and there was no issue with there being 8 of us. The staff serve with a happy and welcoming face that someone who is not a massive fan of Asian food will be comfortable as well. The waitress is excellent- swift and attentive- friendly staff, One of my siblings did get the wrong thing, but the server was happy to replace this with the correct item if he wanted it, but he didn’t change it because he was okay with what came instead.
For the 9 of us, the bill came to £450 inclusive of non-alcoholic beverages, which I thought is a really good value given and they accept both cash and card. I will definitely be back and will be trying most of all the fancy food on their menu.
Overall, we had a decent meal, and it was a good experience, Gogi is a very welcoming restaurant that feels almost like you are sitting at home. The service staff are very polite, and the food is exquisite to match. I would recommend Gogi for both official lunch and friend hang out, and most especially their Korean barbecue menu for those of you who cannot resist the seared meat. Cannot recommend enough!
