I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring – David Bowie

Music’s greatest innovator and legendary rock star, David Bowie, sadly passed away age 69, on 10th January 2016. After months of battling cancer the ‘king of all freaks’ tragically lost the fight.

The news was confirmed on Twitter by Bowie’s son Duncan Jones;

Very sorry and sad to say it’s true. I’ll be offline for a while. Love to all. — Duncan Jones (@ManMadeMoon) January 11, 2016

Celebrities have all taken to social media to share their respects;

David Bowie was one of my most important inspirations, so fearless, so creative, he gave us magic for a lifetime. — KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) January 11, 2016

I just lost a hero. RIP David Bowie. — Ricky Gervais (@rickygervais) January 11, 2016

I grew up listening to and watching the pop genius David Bowie. He was a master of re-invention, who kept getting it right. A huge loss. — David Cameron (@David_Cameron) January 11, 2016

RIP David Bowie. A true musical legend. — gigsandtours (@gigsandtours) January 11, 2016

Instead of dwelling on his death let’s take a look at Bowie’s greatest musical achievements and his inspirational quotes;

There is of course Ziggy Stardust – Bowie’s alter ego. You can’t help but fake that guitar rif:

Then there’s Changes – the song we know mainly from Shrek. Absolute classic;

Space Oddity. Enough said;

Bowie has been an inspirational and influencial person, transforming science fiction, and changing the way people think. His styles and looks were at the centre of this;

I re-invented my image so many times that I’m in denial that I was originally an overweight Korean woman.

He was a humble man, but didn’t always show it;

I’m an instant star. Just add water and stir.

And he was completely involved with Music – it was his life, right up to the day he died, after the release of his final album; BlackStar;

Music itself is going to become like running water or electricity. So it’s like, just take advantage of these last few years because none of this is ever going to happen again. You’d better be prepared for doing a lot of touring because that’s really the only unique situation that’s going to be left.

RIP David Bowie. You will be forever celebrated
