About Us

Hertfordshire Students’ Union’s student media group.

Trident Media is run by students at the University of Hertfordshire and is funded by Hertfordshire Students' Union.

Trident Media Radio (formerly known as Crush Radio) is the student radio station. Crush was the first campus radio in the UK, founded in 1960.

We currently broadcast our radio online via the Radio.co platform but you can listen in here on our website.

We are the voice of the university. Students are always at the centre of all output. Whether you're a budding radio presenter, a keen journalist or have a filming project you'd love to share, we want to hear from you

As a member of Trident Media you will gain invaluable experience, meet other creative students, be able to access our Media Suite on College Lane and receive a certificate of recognition. Currently, due to COVID-19, all society memberships are completely free from Hertfordshire Students' Union. Join now to secure a free membership for the rest of the 2020-21 academic year!

As a member, you get access to the Media Suite, and a certificate of recognition. Due to COVID-19, all society memberships are FREE to purchase from the Hertfordshire Student Union.

Jono in Studio

Trident Media is a brilliant way to build confidence, I would highly encourage anyone to try their hand at presenting their own radio shows, whether it be music or talk based, we are a station for everyone, both presenters and listeners. I couldn’t encourage anyone more to join!

- Jono Godlee, Former Chair & Head Of Radio for Trident Media

Is Trident Media free to join?

Yes! This year Trident Media membership is completely free. However, there is normally a joining fee which will most likely be introduced again for the 2021-22 academic year

How do I sign up to join?

What if I don't have experience in media?

The best part about Trident Media is that it's the closest you can get to industry experience on campus outside your course. There's a common assumption that being part of Trident means you must present a radio show, but this isn't the case. Although most of our members get involved to do that, we know that everyone has different skills and interests. If you'd like to work on sourcing new music and musicians, or you're more interested in filming or writing, you can focus on those instead. Members may choose to work across multiple outlets too! We provide hands-on experience for all our members, with links to various industry professionals. As such, Trident Media is a great way for students to interact with these media professionals and get the tips of the trade
